It Doesn’t Stop You

Bad news gets good air time, doesn’t it? Simply turn on the TV – Bam! Bad news. Good news rarely gets a nod. Perhaps news stations and media outlets fear their viewers and readers will fall away if all they’re presented with is warm, gushy, feel-good news. I don’t know the theory behind this, but it would be interesting to analyze if only hearing good news all day would change our outlooks, our behavior, and ultimately, our lives. I think it would.

No matter what the bad news is, I’m learning to trust and believe that the amount of good going on in the world outweighs it. I may not understand all the bad, but I do understand that no matter what happens in this world:

It doesn’t surprise God,
it doesn’t shock God,
and it doesn’t stop God.

 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” { Romans 8:28 }

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” { Romans 12:21 }

The bad news that fills our days will never be too much for Him. He tells us the journey will be long, and He guarantees there will be trouble along the way. What we face does not surprise Him. The direction our country is going does not shock Him. And the evil that seems to be overtaking communities does not stop Him.

So all you do-gooders out there, keep on keeping on! You may never get air time for the great things you are doing to help a brother or sister in need, but air time is not what you need. God sees everything you do. And He doesn’t match you 1:1. It’s more like 1:1,000,000.
